Our values are to be:

- trustworthy
- relatable
- emotive
- fun & playful
We use a genuine and friendly tone that creates connections and fosters a sense of belonging. We invite visitors to experience the true essence of Wanneroo and encourage them to discover more about our beach, bush and other adventures beyond.
Facebook and Instagram social media channels
Our @discoverwanneroo Facebook and Instagram channels are our voice to the community, visitors and businesses.
We aim to raise awareness of this region as a destination to visit, support our local businesses and share success stories, events and highlights.
We work hard behind the scenes to build relationships with industry partners and stakeholders, which leads to promotional opportunities such as photo shoots, famils and marketing campaigns.
For our businesses, it is easy to engage with us:
- Like and follow us on Facebook or Instagram (or both)
- Drop us a DM
- Mention @discoverwanneroo in your posts, so that we can see what you’re up to and even share your content
- Send an email to [email protected] if you want to have more of a chat about how we can work together

Connection to Industry Stakeholders
The City of Wanneroo is an active participant in the tourism sector across Perth and WA. We are members of a number of key industry bodies and can use these connections to advocate and promote our destination and local businesses. This includes Tourism Council WA which is the peak body representing tourism businesses, industries and regions in Western Australia.
We also work very closely with Destination Perth which is Perth region’s peak destination marketing organisation responsible for promoting the city and surrounds as a desirable leisure destination. Destination Perth is a not-for-profit organisation, with key funding from Tourism WA, and works collaboratively with members and stakeholders to develop destination marketing activities.
The City plays a key role in leading promotion of the broader region, which is branded as the Sunset Coast. This is an officially recognized precinct with the larger Destination Perth (Regional Tourism Organisation). Stretching from Cottesloe to Two Rocks, the area offers visitors a wide range of experiences from the coastline to the hinterland.
The City is also an active contributor to FACET, (Forum Advocating Cultural & Eco-Tourism), which is Western Australia’s nature, culture and heritage tourism network. They have an affordable membership structure and offer educational and networking workshops and conferences.
Promotion and Media Opportunities
The City of Wanneroo adopts a collaborative approach as the best outcomes are always achieved when government, key stakeholders and local business have the opportunity to work together. The City undertakes promotion in a number of different ways, including familiariations, photo and videography shoots, competitions and giveaways, television segments in lifestyle programs and engagement of social media influencers.
We also still undertake more traditional medium including creation of our Destination Guide, Destination Map, flyers and paid advertising in key publications.
Dedicated Support Team
The Advocacy & Economic Development Team are responsible for delivery of the Discover Wanneroo Visitor Economy Strategy 2025-2030, along with key internal and external partners.
The Strategy outlines how this will be achieved by providing leadership for the industry, ensuring alignment with partners and stakeholders, and pooling resources for greater impact. It focuses on key areas such as Visitor Servicing, Visitor Attraction, Investment Attraction & Product Development, Regulatory Environment, and Advocacy & Lobbying, all guided by principles of being sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative. The Strategy is designed to provide clear direction and steps, backed by the City’s commitment to supporting and enabling the visitor economy.
The Team are also able to provide a business liaison function to assist with the more complex regulatory questions faced when starting or expanding a business, which might include Planning, Development, Compliance and Health. We are working behind the scenes to review the City’s Planning Scheme, regulation and processes, to ensure we strive for a small business friendly environment.
