Set Sail on the Shipwreck Trail Adventure ⚓
Uncover the secrets of the sea and explore the mysterious maritime past of the Wanneroo coastline on the Shipwreck Trail, available on the free Nature Play WA – Play Trails App.

As you journey along the coastline, the trail reveals glimpses of maritime history, like the haunting story of the SS Alkimos, a World War II-era Liberty ship that ran aground off Eglington in the 1960s. Shrouded in local legend, it’s said to be one of WA’s most mysterious wrecks, with ghostly tales that have captivated adventurers for decades.
Further north, the remains of the Alex T. Brown, a majestic four-masted schooner built in 1903, still lie hidden in the sands near Yanchep. Caught in a fierce storm in 1917, the ship was driven ashore and never sailed again, its timbers sometimes reappearing after wild winter swells as a haunting reminder of the sea’s might.

Through the Play Trails app, these stories come to life with interactive quizzes, clues, and photo challenges at each location. Earn points as you go, and enjoy the thrill of uncovering history in one of Perth’s most picturesque coastal settings.
