Get Up Close with Miffy, Louie, and Franklin Doogsie in Perth’s Only Wild Koala Habitat!

This summer, Yanchep National Park is the place to be for koala lovers as three new furry friends join the park’s unique resident family! The arrival of Miffy, Louie, and Franklin Doogsie is making waves, adding another reason to visit this iconic destination in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The newcomers—Miffy, a seven-year-old female from Victoria, and Louie and Franklin Doogsie, 18-month-old brothers from South Australia—arrived late last month, bringing fresh energy to Yanchep’s eucalyptus-filled sanctuary. Families and wildlife fans can now spot them every day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. along the park’s peaceful boardwalk.

With these three new koalas, the park’s koala clan now includes its two beloved senior residents, 19-year-old Kate and 14-year-old Koodah. Kate and Koodah are practically royalty here, having descended from some of the first koalas brought to Yanchep from South Australia in the late 1980s. Their long-time residency has turned them into true ambassadors of Yanchep’s koala habitat, which started in 1938 and remains the only place in Western Australia where you can see koalas in a natural setting.

Beyond the koalas, Yanchep National Park has been a magnet for visitors, with a record-breaking 400,000 people exploring its grounds over the past year. Visitors are coming not just for the koalas but for the expanded campgrounds, upgraded Crystal Cave, and a variety of unique experiences. This is a fantastic time for families to enjoy a peaceful day of wildlife viewing, picnics, and a chance to see koalas up close as part of Yanchep’s ongoing commitment to protecting Australia’s iconic species.

So grab your hat, pack a picnic, and head out to Yanchep National Park this summer (note: entrance fees do apply).
