Cultural connection – Noongar Six Seasons Walking Trails
Get to know the land through the lens of Indigenous culture on the Noongar Six Seasons Walking Trails.

The Noongar seasonal calendar includes six different seasons shaped by seasonal changes seen in the world around us, like different plants flowering, reptiles hibernating, and swans moulting. Each section of the walking trail reflects one of the six different Noongar seasons.

In spring, Djilba and Kambarang, the trails are full of life – think blooming acacias, buzzing bees, and bursts of colour everywhere you look. It’s a great walk for families or anyone keen to connect with country while soaking up the season.

There are three of these remarkable trails in the City of Wanneroo, each offering you a different experience. The trail in Chancellor Park, Marangaroo is a gentle 700m walk in a conservation reserve taking you through the woodlands and open forest home to more than 36 different species of birds.

From Quinns Beach Bushland Reserve, you’ll find a 900m meandering trail with views of the Indian Ocean. Travel through coastal conservation bush and enjoy the beachfront picnic facilities, restaurants, and cafes on your way.

Start your third trail at Rotary Park on Scenic Drive in Wanneroo where you can also find picnic facilities and play equipment before embarking on the 700m walk. This area has special cultural significance and is named after Yellagonga, the Aboriginal leader of the Mooro people.

West Coast Wildflowers

 Yanchep National Park
This iconic spot is a spring favourite for a reason. Yanchep National Park comes alive with colour during wildflower season, offering a blooming bonanza of one-sided bottlebrush, Yanchep Rose and enamel orchid.

The park offers a treasure trove of trails helping you scope all the sights, with walks ranging from short and accessible to multi-day adventures. The best trails to take in the stunning array of wildflowers are the Cockatoo Walk Trail, Yanchep Rose Trail, Coastal Plain Walk Trail and the Woodlands Walk Trail.

Keep your camera handy – the flowers aren’t the only things worth snapping. Think koalas, kangaroos, and some seriously peaceful picnic spots.

Mindarie to Quinns walk
If you prefer your wildflowers with a side of sea breeze, this coastal track is calling your name. The Mindarie to Quinns coastal walk is an easy-going path running alongside dunes bursting with coastal blooms during spring.

Expect pops of purple scaevola, yellow lechenaultia and spider net grevillea nestled between native shrubs. Add in sweeping ocean views and the occasional dolphin sighting, and you’ve got yourself a magical morning out.

To access this trail, park at Portofino’s Bar and Kitchen, grab a takeaway coffee and head north; or head south and you’ll wind up at The Marina Mindarie for even more food and drink options at your fingertips.

Neerabup National Park
For something a little more off the beaten path, Neerabup National Park is a hidden gem for wildflower chasers. The limestone ridge trail is rich with kangaroo paws, ative buttercups and native wisteria, and the views over the coastal plain are well worth the effort. You might even be lucky enough to spot echidnas, brushtail possums and brush wallabies.

Spring has sprung and many of these beauties bloom only for a limited time, so now’s the time to explore Wanneroo’s wildflower wonders. Whether you’re in it for the photos, the fresh air, or the joy of spotting something beautiful around the bend, these trails are calling.
